Melissa Knorr, LSW
Licensed Social Worker
We all long for connection. It’s part of what makes us human. But disconnection from ourselves creates a barrier to connecting outward. Therapy isn’t just about alleviating symptoms—it’s about creating a more secure and trusting connection to self. We do that through deepening our understanding of ourselves within the broader context of our lived experience. When we make sense of how we've come to be who we are, we can begin to transform the parts of ourselves that hold us back from becoming who we’re meant to be.
My approach blends evidence-based therapies like CBT, ERP, and ACT with mindfulness and compassion-based practices. I often incorporate tailored techniques into sessions, such as meditation, gratitude, and somatics, to help clients see themselves more clearly, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop intentional, healthier ways forward. I have experience working with teens and adults navigating anxiety, OCD, and trauma.
I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with master’s degrees in social work and public health (MSW/MPH) from the University of Pittsburgh. My professional background includes community-based nonprofit roles supporting underserved communities interspersed with five years of international Peace Corps service. These experiences instilled within me a deep understanding of the individual's journey within their environment. I aim to foster a space for clients to nurture themselves and grow with intention through my warm, open, and often humorous approach.
I am an LGBTQ+ ally and use she/her pronouns. I am currently working towards my independent clinical license under the clinical supervision of Kristy Weidner, LCSW.
